I started my training when I was 16 years of age. My first year was a course on architectural detailing. The remaining three years was a City and Guilds award level 1, 2 and 3. When I left college, I worked for a building company called John Nicholls builders for two years. I then started my own business called MD Construction, where I constructed timber framed homes. The biggest job I ever did was a timber frame hotel in Cornwall where I met a site agent who put me in touch with some builders in London where I worked for some of the wealthiest people doing the most prestigious carpentry and joinery ever.
When I finished my work in London I came back to Cornwall and decided to emigrate to Australia. When I arrived in Australia I started working for a cabinetmaking company called Camboon Cabinets, fitting kitchens and vanity units. I worked for four years in the cabinetmaking industry. Then again I decided to set up my own business here in Perth doing general carpentry and joinery. I did this for two years then I found a niche in the market designing and building home theatres. As I gained a great deal of experience in London creating things beyond the imagination, this is when my business Soundcraft Home Cinemas was created. This gave me the opportunity to really shine and create rooms which I was really proud of.
With things a little slow, it is good to know that I always have my carpentry and joinery skills to fall back on so if you need a good carpenter or joiner please
don't hesitate to call me and I'll be happy to help.
